Building Skills and Confidence: My Inclusive Internship Experience at MYND – Preeti Daimari

I interned under Dr. Mythili Hazarika ma’am at Mynd for a month in 2023. The exposure helped me gain confidence in building rapport with clients and provided me with basic skills related to clinical psychology. Stepping into this internship in my undergraduate helped me make better decisions about my career. I believe it is important to work in diverse settings to gain a whole experience, and Mynd provides a rare opportunity in this part of the country. During my time there, I had the privilege of not only observation but also one-to-one interaction with clients. A favorite part of the internship was spent with children with developmental difficulties. The internship also involved learning about de-addiction. The case studies and presentations helped analyze a diverse set of mental health-related problems faced by clients from different economic backgrounds, including queer mental health. My experience at Mynd was that of inclusivity and practical learning, including the conduction of various tests.
