Ms. Jiya Bahar, BA Psychology, Christ University, Bangalore – A Transformative Internship Experience at MYND Institute

I am grateful for the numerous opportunities I got during my internship. My internship at MYND Institute has been an incredibly rewarding and transformative experience. Being on the field allowed me to witness the practical application of psychological theories and concepts, far beyond what can be learned in a classroom. Through direct observation and supervised interaction, I gained a deeper understanding of how to engage with clients, particularly in learning what kinds of questions to ask and how to ask them with sensitivity and purpose.
One of the most valuable aspects of this experience was learning how to explore the full spectrum of symptoms when a client presents signs that may indicate a specific disorder. I also had the opportunity to deepen my understanding of personality disorders, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), family therapy, and conducting a Mental Status Examination (MSE).
This internship has helped me build a strong foundation in clinical observation, client interaction, and psychological assessment. It gave me insight into the subtle, often complex nature of human behaviour and mental health, and confirmed my desire to continue in this field. These lessons I will carry with me as I move forward in my journey in the field of psychology.
